  • Worst warranty company I've had to deal with. I've had 4 claims denied by this company, yet I pay monthly premium and a service charge for each denied claim. I have cancelled home warranty through One Guard and will never do business or recommend them to anyone! They are only in the business to make money by collecting premiums, then denying any claims made. 1. I replaced a light fixture in my dining room and once completed, the light switch was making humming noise. Went to Home Depot and was told old switch needed to be replaced with one that was compatible for the new light fixture. After replacing switch, light fixture would not work, so filed claim online with One Guard which included pics of the replaced light fixture and switch that I had installed. Electrician sent out by OGHW, claim denied due to secondary repairs made by me...I sent pics when I filed online claim so they knew I had done self repairs but sent someone out, charged service fee $59, then denied claim. As if they couldn't have contacted me, to notify self repairs were not covered a claim before they sent someone out and charge me a service fee. I had to cover additional cost $65 out of pocket for replacing the light switch that was not compatible with LED lights. 2. Leaking toilet, claim filed with One Guard. Plumber comes out, could not locate clean outs, so instead removed toilet and snaked drain from inside the house, claim denied for repairs from inside the house that were not a covered expense and charged $59 service fee. I had to pay $200 out of pocket to plumber for work denied by OGHW. I located and dug out the buried clean outs and was able to get refund from plumber after filing complaint, but still should have been a covered claim through One Guard. 3. During rainstorm water leaked through roof vent into microwave and temporarily disabled microwave. Claim filed with One Guard, electrician sent out, but then denied claim stating not normal wear and tear, charged $59 service fee and told me to file with Homeowners Ins. State Farm denied claim due to damage due to faulty roof replacement and therefore not covered, suggested I contact roofing company or home warranty! Ended up paying out of pocket $150 for roof repairs since roofing company was now out of business. 4. 1 of 2 Pool pumps was leaking, claim filed with One Guard. Pool tech sent from Green 2 Crystal Clear pool repairs, I explained issues with water leak and air pressure leak that I assumed was caused by same pump. Crystal Clear had been out in May 2017 for repairs on same leaking pump. Claim denied by Home Guard stating improper maintenance on my part, and leak caused secondary damage to other pump and would not be covered. During attempt to repair pump 1, pool tech checked pump 2 for pressure leaks, and in attempt to repair, broke housing for pump 2, now pump required replacement. While I was on the phone trying to workout denied claim, pool tech departed and left dismantled pump and parts on the ground, and service repairs were not completed. One Guard stated I was still responsible for $59 service fee even though repairs were not completed. Now may end up paying out of pocket $500-$700 for new pump!
