"Public Transportation" should be accessible to "the public". You tell me of any other "public transportation" that tries to get you to spend so much of your money before you even get to the station.
And I would have given it two stars but by the time we finally found the station we were so exhausted, just to have the security guard tells us that the monorail has been shut down "temporarily" and they didn't know how long it would be closed and to not buy a ticket today. AAAAAAAGGGGGGG!!!! Now we had to walk ALL THE WAY BACK to the street???!!! I nearly broke down exhausted and crying until my honey promised me ice cream at a shop we had passed on the way in.
If the monorail actually ran in the middle of the strip (like BART) and you could get to a station without having to hike 5 miles first I would rate it higher. As we were hiking on the seeminly endless pathways into and out of casino floors and past shops and every 100 feet dodging the "HEY!! HELLO?! HEY!" barkers trying to "give" us tickets and comps (really time share schemes), our motto was "it's faster to walk the strip."
I can see how this thing would be good if you were staying at the Hilton and wanted to go gambling at any of the casinos where it stops. But even if you're staying at any of the hotels along the stops you still have to walk the entire casino floors as well as all the way through their miles long shopping areas (dodging barkers all the way) just get to the stations.
No thanks. After one afternoon of all this nonsense we actually decided to take a loss on the passes we bought, and we either took a taxi or only went where there were free shuttles to take us. (tip: there's a FREE shuttle to and from Bally's and Rio - totally worth it to go to Rio!
