  • I can't really compare it to any other Peruvian food, so I will just base it on whether I liked it or not. It's not quite a 4, but it's more than a 3. I wish Yelp would just make it 1-10, but I guess we would all still do the same thing. We came in on a quiet evening, which was lovely. It's very unassuming from the outside, and had I never hopped on Yelp, I wouldn't have seen it. In fact my husband almost left because he didn't believe me it would be worth it. But, I had never had Peruvian, and I felt it would fit into his palate within reason (he's a little less adventurous) Our server was attentive, and was helpful in offering direction with questions. To drink I figured I would try the Chicha Morada (purple corn drink), which was intriguing. At first I wasn't sure about it, but it grew on me and it kinda was a palate cleanser. It's got some spice to it (not heat, more clove-cinnamon-y with a fruity base.) Interesting to say the least and definitely worth giving at try.. I would get it again. The fried corn they serve upon your seating is fun (I hardly got any, because my husband took the spoon and ate it) but the winner is actually the green sauce that goes with it. We also ordered the Yuquitas Fritas (which are Yucca Fries) as an appetizer. I didn't want to get too crazy because as I said, DH has a limited palate so, this was safe. They were good, nothing to woohoo about. Entrée. I picked both of our entrees. Mostly because my husband hates reading menus and when he can't tell what it is from the title he just gets annoyed. I got the Aji de Gallina and ordered him the Bistec con Mariscos. My entrée reminded me of semi-exotic comfort food. It wasn't intimidating in any way and by the end of the meal grew on me and as I write this, I want more. My husband's entrée was also very good, although the seafood part was a little seafood-y to me. However, to be fair, certain foods in my world don't touch and so this was a little hard for me to handle anyway. Also, if you don't like the calamari in the shape of baby squids, pass. There are a lot on the plate. Hubby couldn't do that. They calamari was super chewy, so not a total win in my book, but the steak was surprisingly awesome. Very tender and flavorful. Mixed with the sauce and rice, yum. Price-well considering how much seafood was on the beef, but I felt maybe a tad overpriced. My dish was good. It was probably right where it should be based on it's ingredients, but maybe a dollar less would have mentally put me elsewhere on it. Weird how that psychology injected into everything. Again. I have no Peruvian food to compare this to, but it was good and definitely worth a stop. Our service was great, food was good, and we will probably be back when we are around the area.
