  • Been meaning to update my review, and an early morning voice message from this store today reminded me that I still need to do so. My wedding dress' estimated arrival date at my apartment in California was 01MAR2012, but it was delivered in January and was the biggest size 2 I'd ever seen. I'd been heartbroken that my dress was so ill-fitting and was stressed over the money I'd need to spend on alterations. Earlier this month I decided to forfeit my dress and exchange it for a size 0 dress at one of the San Diego area David's Bridal stores. Turns out the smaller size fits quite well, and, had I not been forced into undergarments I didn't want to buy in the first place, the size 0 dress I tried on during my December 2011 fitting in Pittsburgh would have fit too. (With the benefit of hindsight, I realized the undergarments had been so thick they didn't allow the dress to zip all the way.) I really like my consultant Ginneene, but her oversights in helping me order the correct size wedding dress were unfortunate. I can't get over the fact that she didn't measure me during my December appointment and that it didn't occur to her that the size 0 dress would fit sans undergarments. Also, regarding undergarments and accessories, they're discounted 15% if you purchase them the same day you purchase a dress. Again, during my appointment I'd communicated that I didn't plan to wear a bra with my dress, but both the bra and slip I'd been urged to wear during my fitting found their way into my bag at the cash wrap area. Unbelievably, the items had been included in my transaction and then eventually removed from the receipt after my mom and I noticed the error. Also annoying was my David's Bridal Wedding Gown Preservation Kit predicament. The kit, which includes everything needed to ship a dress for cleaning as well as the cost of the cleaning itself, is offered at a significantly reduced price to those who purchase a wedding dress at David's Bridal. To receive the deal the kit must be purchased the same day as the wedding dress. Apparently the kit must also be purchased at the same David's Bridal store where the dress was purchased, because this store wouldn't give me a credit/voucher to pick up my already-paid-for kit at a San Diego David's Bridal store. Currently my $100 kit sits in my parents' home in PA, and its dimensions seem too big for it to pass as an airplane carry-on item. That voice message from David's Bridal this morning? *sigh* The message informed me that the bra and slip--yes, the ones I never wanted--from my December appointment are still "on hold" for me and that I'm invited to stop by to discuss bridesmaids dresses. Had David's Bridal taken a minute to review the paperwork I completed they'd know that (A) I said I wouldn't be purchasing any undergarments and (B) I have no bridesmaids. Had David's Bridal reviewed my paperwork they'd also see that I checked the box to indicate I don't wish to be contacted with promotional offers by David's Bridal or any of its partners or vendors. I'd been livid when I received my original wedding dress and saw the laminated pouch attached to the garment bag holding a slip of paper indicating that I should be contacted via email, phone, and home address with promotional offers. Also, when I filled out the December paperwork I'd offered no contact information for my fiancĂ© other than his name, so needless to say I wasn't pleased when tuxedo-related mail addressed to my guy arrived in our mail box. Quite a learning experience, to say the least!
