I have a love - hate relationship with this park. I love how close by it is to some of my favourite spots in the city. I love the Fish and Chip place across on Queen http://www.yelp.ca/biz/chippys-fish-and-chips-toronto-2
The hate comes from the inability to read a book in peace, or have a moment alone with just my thoughts. As an example, last summer I attempted to tuck myself near Dundas to read in the shade of a tree; when I was rudely interrupted by some random dude who felt the need to clap his hands as he passed. He was alone and as far as I could discern he wasn't trying to get anyone's attention but mine. Maybe I'm just weird or lack experience with receiving performance accolades through passive actions, but I prefer the quiet serenity of nature then being "seen".
It is a beautiful space and well used by the locals who treasures it dearly. I can remember walking through the park as a teenager and hustling to avoid the areas previous citizens; long since run-out by the gentrification of Queen West.
