| - I have nothing against dive-y restaurants, especially when they offer craft beers. Burger Bar seemed to have a lot going for it - fun spaghetti western playing on the TV, retro drink menus that I remember from when I was a kid, promising menu, etc. But alas, the great music and fun decor could not save this place from its bad service and mediocre food.
Our server was pleasant but didn't seem overly concerned with actually helping us. She told us everything they were out of (onion rings, some of the beers, the organic burgers) and then claimed that the organic meat and the non-organic meat most likely came from the same cow. "It doesn't mean anything," she said cheerily.
The spinach salad was pleasantly acidic but way over-salted. Our burgers came and almost every order was wrong. I had ordered lamb with tzatziki sauce but received a regular burger with mustard. My tzatziki ended up on my husband's veggie burger (which tasted like a dry, not-fully-cooked falafel patty), my friend's side salad never came. My hamburger bun was tasty, but my friends' all agreed that they would have tasted better toasted.
Our server put the bill on the table at the end of the meal but then never came to collect. All in all, while we enjoyed the eclectic Blur, Michael Jackson and Fleetwood Mac soundtrack, we won't be coming back. There are far tastier (and cheaper) burgers in the city.
Vegetarian score: 3/10. Veggie burger yes, but it's not worth your time.
