I stayed at the Wyndham while attending the ALSD conference that was scheduled more then a year in advance. I checked in around 3:45 pm and they told me the room would be ready In 15 minutes. We waited around for an hour and then they said it would be another 10 minutes. They ended up calling me at 6:30 to tell me the room was ready, meanwhile I had to be at a meeting at 7 pm which the hotel was aware of because they were hosting the event. When I told the person who called me that the wait was over 3 hours after they told me 15 minutes, they didn't even feel the need to apologize. The only thing the reception desk was "okay". That was my first impression. Later, I went to take a shower and the water coming out was yellow and remained yellow for about 5 minutes. There were also ants in the sink. One of my colleagues walked into a dirty room to which she called down and asked them to come up and clean it while she went to dinner. 3 hours later she came back to the room with the bed made, and the room still dirty with used contacts on the bathroom sink. Last thing worth noting is how hospitable they are to the homeless of Pittsburgh, please see some of the photos I posted. Along with a homeless man casually walking around the lobby and hydrating at the fruit water jug they had, there were also a couple homeless people hanging out at the bar later that night. The stench throughout the bar was probably the most disturbing part. Needless to say, the Wyndham did an awful job and I would recommend this only to those who enjoy an experience comparable to staying in a halfway house.
