Review #700 is saved for Britney! (took me a while to get here)
This review is extremely biased because:
1) I LOVE Britney Spears - seeing her perform live is a bit of a bucket list item for me
2) These tickets were comped (but I would've paid good $$$ for them)
One must temper expectations prior to watching the show:
- Do NOT expect her to sing live!!
- She is not as nimble as she once was on the dance floor
Honestly, as a lifelong Britney fan, it is just SO GOOD to see her happy with everything that has happened in her life. When she announced her residency at PH, I really wanted to see her immediately because I half assumed that she'll either poop out or something will happen and the show won't last long. Happily, I finally made it to her second rendition and had an amazing time!!! But only because 1) I'm a Britney fan and 2) I adjusted my expectation according to 2016 Britney and not expecting 2000 Britney.
My parents were able to score me comped tickets for a Wednesday night show so I'm appreciative that I didn't have to pay for them. BUT - I totally would splurge for pit tickets because she definitely struts around a lot in the pit area and everyone in the pit looked like they were having an amazing time!! My comped tickets were in section 101 - which means the energy is a bit lacking in that section because a chunk of the people sitting in this area most likely are not paying fans and are merely there because the tickets are free. I know this because everyone in the ENTIRE ARENA was standing and dancing EXCEPT the sad section I was in. Not the entire 101 section is comped, but I would've preferred to be out there standing and dancing with my fellow fans (pit tickets next time)!
As long as you manage your expectation, the casual fan will still have a good time if you are nostalgic for the bubblegum pop era. I'm just glad I finally checked this off my list!
