I bought a Venus Fly Trap plant a couple months ago and was determined that this was one plant I wouldn't end up killing.
I was wrong.
I went to Petsmart to see if they sold any little bugs that I could feed him. One of the sales associates showed me a little can of tiny dead crickets that had been preserved in their (blech) natural juices. I almost threw up a little when he said natural juices, by the way.
Still, I bought the can but made my boyfriend do the honors of feeding him. It was only a few days later that he turned black and died.
Moral of the story is that Venus Fly Trap plants clearly don't like crickets, but Petsmarts employees are kind enough not to judge a strange lady as she comes in inquiring about them.
This has always been the case at Petsmart for me. The employees are helpful and knowledgeable, no matter what you're asking about.
Oh and if you're looking for a pet, be sure to visit the cats and dogs that are up for adoption while you're there.
