| - EDIT: I gave Roadrunner another shot and placed an order for my cat's medication last Friday. When I called today to check on the status of the order I found out they tried to refill an old prescription that had expired over a year ago. For the past week they've been waiting on a prescription renewal from my vet for an expired prescription with no refills instead of filling the current, most recent prescription on file. I even had to eat the cost for Saturday delivery because we've been waiting so long for a refill my cat is now completely out of medication and covered in skin lesions.
I've used this pharmacy for a few years now and was always impressed with the quick service and great quality of their products. I've tried everything to get my cat to take her medication: mixing it with food, wrapping pills in lunch meat, getting the medication as a pricey injection through our veterinarian, you name it. Roadrunner offered me an affordable way to make giving my cat her medication totally painless, and they also send free toys with their orders!
I'm sorry to say I probably won't be using Roadrunner Pharmacy again, though. Recently our veterinarian wanted to try a new medication and I chose to have it compounded from Roadrunner without even giving it a second thought. I trusted them and had such incredible experiences with them in the past. But when I went to give my cat her medication, she reacted the same way she would if it hadn't been compounded at all: she vomited and spent the next 10 minutes drooling. To their credit, they did send an additional syringe of flavor to mix in with the medication make it more palatable but it really didn't help. When I called the next day to ask what the issue could be, the representative told me the medication in question (gabapentin) was "just naturally really bitter" and there was nothing they could do.
That's frustrating for me, because making "naturally really bitter" medication taste good to my cat is exactly what I expect a compounding pharmacy to do. It's what they've always done in the past. And when they failed to do this, they also refused to offer me a refund. They have an absolutely non-negotiable "no return" policy which is apparently also a "no refund" policy. I could have gotten bitter gabapentin I knew my cat wouldn't take for about $10-$15 at my regular vet. The reason I paid almost $60 is because I trusted Roadrunner to compound it in a way that my cat would accept. It's unfortunate but their refusal to work with me on this issue is why I will be using a different pharmacy moving forward.
