rev:text	WHERE FINE DINING AND MONEYED TORONTONIANS COME FOR THEIR FINAL RESTING PLACE It smells of death, or near death, I'm sure if I frequented Prime on a reg basis, I will see the fellas on the IV drips. The hotel itself houses long term residents and guests that come on the rep of a grandeur long faded. The carpets smell; the elevators are unbearable, it's that old man stench, when grandpa thinks he might catch the grippa if his body touches the aqua. FOOD, WHAT COMPLACENCY It's ya know just all right, really, just so-so ho-hum barely passing avg. Everything's just off the mark by wide enough of a margin to make you not want to eat beyond a sampling, as in, oh, so that's how they do that here. You will flavours tend toward the sour. I don't know, the soon-to-be-departed seem to quite enjoy their gazpacho, sipping between morsels of conversation about how Grace had broken her cane a second time and had glued it back together, and the cliffhanger is one wonders if it'll hold. Chicken is blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, ya know, the last time I had chicken this bad was on a plane. The fish, oh, I don't know, tilapia, I think, and, it was oily, so can we paper towel the sucker. Fries undercooked. Desserts all made you want to stop eating it. Too sweet, really just sweet, no hint of this, soupcon of that, some complexity, kinda like a President's Choice outta-da-box dessert creation out of the frankenfood labs. SERVICE, HEY, HEY OLD SCHOOL Everybody smiles, every asks how you are, waiter has that flow and grace, ya know, pro service industry type, surveys room, nods, quick and efficient in movement and words, shows acquiescence (acceptance that for the moment he's a waiter and he's there to serve you and it's not a cockfight between him and every patron who's da bigga man). And if it were otherwise, Grace may have to break her cane over yer head. RECAP The food like the clientele have been abandoned by good taste and ungrateful children, or perhaps it's just desserts for not keeping talent in the kitchen and your kids at home, or, heck, at least, bring them home for the holidays, don't leave Rupert and Winona alone at boarding school. No number of Filipina nannies substitutes for blood-bound parenting.
