| - Not sure what people are expecting...
This place is not Vegas or Macau. However, it is certainly comparable to the regional casinos that have popped up in the urban areas of the northeastern US. Lots of slots, the layout is attractive and a healthy dose of tables, which are biased towards blackjack.
What won me over was how friendly and relatively cheerful everyone was. The dealers were affable and no one at the table had issues switching back and forth between French and English (an Anglo fear of mine). Additionally, the Casino is located in a beautiful park that was a 15 min walk from the metro, but a bus ran as well. I felt far more comfortable there than the casinos that have opened up in the midatlantic.
Only issue I ran into was food service. The top floor is the restaurant floor. They appear to have 3 sit down restaurants (1 buffet, 1 steak place and 1 Asian place). The prices looked reasonable, especially with USD/CAD at 1.27, but they were closed in the afternoon. I know it was a bit late for lunch, but I was left with their cafe service. That too looked good and reasonable, as they offered up prepackaged sandwiches as well as a pasta bar, but the employees seemed distracted and I stood around waiting to order. Apparently, they have 2 rewards programs one for the locals and one for foreigners.
Not sure why everyone is being so hard on it. Maybe it's because I ended up 700CAD that I liked it so much?
