  • Service does not match very high prices. I was looking for a specific type of shoe so I tried out the walking company hoping to get a good quality shoe and good service. I ended up spending $250 for a pair of shoes with the upgraded orthotics. Yes, expensive but I thought I got a good pair of shoes from it. After just 2 months the soles of the shoes started to separate from the upper part of the shoe. Not something I expected for the price. I called the store and was told they had the shoe in my size and bring them in to exchange. At the store they didn't have that shoe in my size. I was given a half size smaller and a half size bigger to try on (no my feet didn't change since I bought he shoes). She said I could send them back via mail and a new pair would be mailed out - taking weeks of course, with me not having the shoes needed for my activities. I insisted we call the main companies number. They again said I could mail back the shoes and they would mail me replacements. I asked why can't the shoes be sent to the store and I exchange them at the store. After all I bought them at this store. I could not give them up for a couple weeks, I used them most days. The inaneness started then with the rep at the 800#. - the store can't give me something they don't have (said after I clearly and slowly explained again they could send the shoe to the store and I can exchange it here). - I talked to my manager so you don't have to - my manager is talking to another customer so you can not talk to them or be on hold waiting to talk to them (said every time I said I would wait even after I was put on hold) Meanwhile I asked the store clerk to try and reach her manager. After over 40 minutes on the phone with the 800# rep, she came back on the line and said ok, we have worked this out. I called the scottsdale store and they have the right size and they will ship that to this store, it will take a couple days, and someone will call to let you know so you can pick it up at this store. I asked her to hold on while I talked to the store rep. It turns out the store rep had spoken to her district manger who suggested calling the scottsdale store and she had done so and confirmed I could get those shoes. (the 800# rep was trying to act like she was taking care of me when the local store rep was doing the work). The local store rep asked if I wanted to pick then up and in response to my questions she said depending how it got shipped to them (just those one shoes or several boxes) it was possible they might miss the fact they were marked for me. So I opted to drove 45 min to the other store (and back). A note - salesperson quality varies a lot at this store. From how well they fit the shoe to you (I saw three doing this and there was huge variations from quite good to very mediocre). And also in general service - I actually had one sales person on the phone said in a very irritated and dismissive tone that he could not answer a question as he has a customer there. Hmm, was I not a customer? But was supposed to drive 25 min there to get a question answered about what to bring to get the exchange done. Because of the very poor customer service of the parent company (and inconsistency of the local sales reps) I won't be shopping here again. There are other stored that offer the type of shoes I look for.
