| - God bless Jack Frost donuts. After seeing the Plain Dealer articles and reviews from the 2014 NEO Best Donut competition (I can't believe I didn't know such a thing existed until now), all I could think about was the maple bacon donut.
It did not disappoint. My first visit to their shop was a true success. I walked out with a dozen donuts, enough to share with family and friends, all for less than $10 (1 dozen: $9.45!- bring cash!! ), and had a pleasant conversation with the staff.
First purchase included flavors pumpkin spice, chocolate peanut butter, apple cinnamon, chocolate cake, salted caramel, maple bacon, and a French cruller.
The maple bacon is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Perfectly sweet and salty. My parents, who are uneasy about straying away from the standard glaze, went crazy for the chocolate, salted caramel, and pumpkin spice. Freshly baked, fluffy, frosting and toppings galore (but never too much!), the donut shop one dreams of.
I was surprised at how balanced the pumpkin spice was- it was flavorful and sweet, but not tooth ache causing or overpowering. So much that one could inhale a few of them in a sitting.
Can't wait to go back. After I run off this batch that is.
