  • I'm a huge Top Chef fan so was eager to try Craftsteak. It was hit and miss...mostly miss. They start you off with hot-out-of-the-oven parker house rolls, topped with butter and sea salt. These were excellent. The organic lettuce salad with lemon vinaigrette was wonderful. So fresh and very refreshing. Just perfect. Hubby had the Angus bone-in NY Strip. It was actually tough and didn't taste or have the mouthfeel of prime meat at all. I had the Angus bone-in Ribeye. It was tasty, but also did not seem to be prime. It also was unevenly cut so that the thinner parts were overcooked. (I found this ironic based on how often Tom has judged people on poorly butchered meat!) The steaks arrive in a copper skillet swimming in demi glace. It's a nice way to serve, but you have to like thyme because the herb permeates the steak and the cippolini onion that is served with it. Our sides were french fries (excellent...homemade and crispy), and brussels sprouts with bacon. About half the sprouts were well-done, and caramelized, making them delicious. The other half looked and tasted as though they were steamed, so there is a bit of inconsistency there as well. We finished up with something called Chocolate Decadence which was not very good at all. It looked and tasted like something you'd find in your high-end grocery store bakery case. But the consistency was "gloppy" and also had chocolate nibs throughout, making a terrible "too crunchy" texture in random areas that didn't seem intentional. It was like chewing bebes. The desert didn't fit with the "feel" of the restaurant and certainly was not worth $15. We will not go back to Craftsteak.
