| - Rising Sons used to be on University Ave, where the old theater used to be. Of course, that has been torn down and "Lucky" apartment complex has been raised in it's place. What a fitting name, as one needs to pay $1,000 and up to live here. Did I mention this is student housing?!?!
Jealousy and envy and contempt aside, I am still mourning the loss of the old University Square.
Curry In A Hurry used to be here. It was a between class staple in my diet. Lamb curry with Paratha, to go, please. I would wrap the curry and rice in my Paratha and walk while eating, my pseudo wrap. I miss this restaurant, as it never relocated, it just closed.
Rising sons was my snack stop, they sold fried bananas, Southeast Asian style, and it was a Mon, Wed, Fri stop on the way to Bascom Hill.
After the Square was torn down, Rising Sons relocated to State Street. I was so excited! It was close to my apartment and on the way to class, I no longer had to walk two blocks out of my way. Alas, I walked in to order my fried bananas, to go, and was devastated. "We no longer sell that, mam."
I miss the old Square.
