  • I'm impelled to share my first and only Yelp review. This is an informal review of the Rainbow Blvd, American Male location. When everything is routine, the experience is great. However, when a customer brings a service issue, Annette (store manager), Cheyenne (short term receptionist), and Rod K are rude, confrontational, or passive aggressive. The saddest part is that in their own little world, they think they're great. I've found other places that are much better. There's so many other choices. After awhile, the novelty of the can of coke, wax, and hot towels wears out. It eventually turns into no big deal. Places like this come and go. They should invite the reality show Tabitha to take over. I relied on their Demandforce, appointment reminder service. I've been having problems being contacted from that. When I brought up the issue, they couldn't understand from a customers paradigm. They put little effort in understanding what I was nicely sharing with them, even after I tried to help them 8 times. The remainder of their attention to the issue was spent researching on the computer to cover their butt and trying to justify themselves so they feel better. I despise a business that wants to make money and keep customers, but has a negative culture of accountability. They treated me very unprofessionally. I wasn't their husband and we weren't at home. It was very upsetting. I wouldn't hire either one of them to even work a lemonade stand for me. Customer/Buyer Beware!!! Seeing my favorite hair-styler was worth the trouble though. She understood the bad work environment and had nothing to do with the management. She was a new mom and needed the money. She was over-qualified to work there and deserved to be taken care of, despite the management. She'll eventually be more successful at another establishment. Don't let them fool you. Management is jaded and believes you are there to take care of them, socialize, pay, and tip them. A pleasant customer service culture is not a priority if you have a service challenge. They have a high rate of turn-over. Stylists and staff are also going to better places. Most days, there is someone new working there. Management's general idea of a proper response is: - "no problem." They can be generally condescending. In addition, there's an eclectic collection of other, terrible business communication errors for you to deal with. But don't bring them to the management's attention. They'll handle it poorly. Maybe you can get a free visit though. Your call, haha. Like I said, routinely the experience is good. However, it's like playing russian roulette. You can't predict, when the time comes, when you'll have a bad experience with management and need to look for a better place. Don't be fooled by the management's desperate attempts to be nice. I predict this place will close for business eventually. I would never own this store as it is. The big picture outlook for the Rainbow Blvd American Male store is insignificant, at best. There are plenty of other places that appreciate and enjoy their work and customers. Keep in mind, this is a service oriented town and there are a lot of better choices. Read the numerous, other negative reviews for American Male. It's worth reading more on Yelp for a better place, less expensive, or more convenient location. It will be easy to do on Yelp.
