| - Throwing some major kudos to Ingenuity this year.
To begin: its really, really hard to build a totally raw, uncommon space up from NOTHING. Especially a steampunk industrial factory. Personally, I think the festival really becomes alive at night (I tend to enjoy light oriented art more at night, when the contrast is more significant). The light projections on the building were killer. I thought Ingenuity did a fabulous job activating this huge space and providing good wayfinding through its map and trusses. Everywhere you turned, there was something to see.
I loved the henna and vendor village, belly dancers, the late night comedy show, and improve dance troupe that randomly sprung up and danced to Hong Kong Garden. My friend and I also loved the inside-- some really interesting social justice oriented art and off-the-wall art projects. My friend had his actual face molded as part of an artist installation. I wasn't brave enough because I'm a girl, and you know, makeup. We had a blast talking with some of the artists and learning about their community. It's not easy to blend tech, art and commerce... great job, Ingenuity. Can't wait for next year and to see all the quirky, interesting things you'll do.
