At first glance the fantastical looking cupcakes from Les Glaceurs seem like a cupcake lovers' wet dream. They could easily serve as film props in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and look as if they've been frosted by Oompa Loompas on Mdma, but looks alone can be deceiving.
Sure having piles of over proportioned frosted colorful layers make for delightful novelty but these cupcakes are virtually impossible to eat without a) knocking the frosting off (which is a very, VERY SAD thing to happen btw) or b) suffering a full-on frosting facial attack, realistically though shouldn't there be more cupcake in one's mouth than on their face? As for the intensity of sugary frosted sweetness, it's pretty extreme. I realise this place is called Les Glaceurs for a reason but it's enough to warrant having the dentist on speed-dial...TOO SWEET!
I suppose the hyper saccharined sweetness was balanced by the sourness of the less than friendly service which was at best acerbically chilly. This makes me think maybe this cupcakerie should be named Les Froideurs instead?
