  • Kudos for: 1. Being a true international market in Vegas -- I could spend hours here and probably not even see half of the store because I was so curious to read labels and check out the handicrafts. 2. Your Friendly Customers -- people who frequent a place like the International Market are only too happy to explain what things are and why they're passionate about their food choices and its origins. 3. The Choice and Type of International Products you offer -- I bought at least 5 spice packets for Indonesian and Malay foods. I also bought different types of Middle Eastern delicacies and pandan for making SE Asian desserts. There were also whole sections dedicated to Germany, Italy, Scandinavia... and the list goes on!! But where there's good, there's also bad: 1. They are not open on Sundays -- Why people, WHY???? 2. Cramped aisles - The aisles' narrowness makes it difficult to navigate your shopping cart. And, good luck if there's someone in front of you in an aisle because you are not going to be able to back that thing up. Good thing that there are lots of interesting foods to look at while you're stuck in an aisle. 3. Overall messiness and disorganization. Things are literally falling into you as you pass through the aisles. 4. Potential sanitary issues with the fish counter. I was actually scared to get anything from behind the fish counter because the guy that was about to serve me poke had just killed a fish for another customer and didn't take his bloody fish gloves off before he was getting ready to dole the poke out. The thought still makes my stomach turn. 5. The membership fee ($10) or, if you skip, a 5% surcharge on your check. C'mon folks... is that really necessary?? Despite the above, I still encourage folks to go because it is such an interesting place to spend an afternoon.
