  • I had the good fortune of taking a visit to P&M last week and realized what I'd been missing this whole time. What a fantastic place! In put it succinctly, this is the epitome of what you expect from a nursery specializing in desert plants. This place is, first and foremost, huge. Doesn't look like much from the street, but it goes way back and you definitely need to set aside an hour or two to wander and appreciate everything they have available. Spacing is tight in a few spots, but worth the risk to wander between the imposing and thorny foliage to find some hidden gems. In terms of selection, I doubt there exists much that most folks are looking for that you cannot find here. What's more, they also have a lot of specialty plants and a good number of gargantuan specimens as well. Even a modest Agave enthusiast will find themselves drooling at every corner and wishing they had the space and the means to take home of the fantastic offerings. Pricing wise, while the bigger plants are quite spendy, the smaller and mid-range stuff can be pretty reasonable, especially for species you won't find anywhere else. I picked up some wonderful Agave sobria ssp. frailensis, for example. Try finding that in a mainstream nursery at all, much less at a reasonable price. If for nothing more than to check out their vast selection and enjoy all the wonderful specimens they have, you definitely need to check this place out. I will definitely be back! Tip: Avoid last minute on a Sunday, as they tend to close as early as 3pm, depending on how busy they are. Monday thru Saturday are safe bets for posted hours, but Sunday is a bit variable.
