| - I had to get some screws that were missing from a Malm dresser. I was not returning or exchanging, simply picking up screws that IKEA had not put in with the package. What a ridiculous ordeal! The "robotic" way in which the staff are trained to NOT help a customer is so unnerving that I have sworn never to return to an IKEA store...ever!
Shuffled off to wait in a crazy long line up of people returning goods. I took a ticket, looked up at the numbers currently serviced and thought I should have packed lunch! After nearly 15 minutes, I went to the "As IS" department to find an employee that was sitting on a stool doing nothing that looked related to "work" but he just sent me back to "returns". I was not returning but collecting!
I went back, complained that it was now almost 20 minutes and my number still had not been called when a "poor service attendant" said she called one 5 minutes ago. A complete lie! What was her motive? Everybody there knew she had not called a "C" in at least 20 minutes. I had left my sister there waiting too! I called her on it too.
Finally got looked after by the manager after stopping a person on his break, who went to the bolt bins, right there, and got them for me! Oh yes, and he gave me the store manager's name, Ivana, no last name, no card, no extension, no email, no phone #.
I then questioned myself, all the way home, why I put myself through this ordeal for inferior furniture made by underpaid workers in some far away country (Guess which one)!
In the future I will purchase elsewhere...another big box store that does not brazenly manipulate you through their store following arrows and where you do not have to wait for up an hour or more to return something! Such arrogance!
