  • We had a new home built with Lennar in Gilbert, Arizona last year. What was supposed to be one of the more exciting times in our lives (our very first build) has been nothing but headaches and indigestion thanks to Interior Logic. After moving in, we noticed many hollow tiles on the lower level of the home. These are the upgraded 12" x 24" tiles which are laid in a 1/3 stagger layout to help with the natural bowling of the material. So, they come out, find 20 or so tiles that need replaced, tear out chunks more (not just the tiles that need replaced) and replace everything they tore up. After everything dries and sets, we notice a lot of issues with falling grout, missing grout throughout. So, the come back out once more, touch up and replace grout in areas. A few days go by and we notice even more hollow tiles and problems with the grout. So, they decide this time they are going to re-grout the entire floor and replace the hollow tiles. We are kicked out of our home for a full day (my wife, our toddler, our partially disabled parent who lives with us and our dog) as they say tell us they can repair everything without paying to put us up in a hotel. I stay at home that day spending the day working outside on the yard. About 3/4 of the way through the day, the project manager comes to me and tells me they ran out of material and will not be able to complete the job as promised, leaving my father-in-laws casita without grout. Seriously, these guys made all the plans and scheduled the job, the amount of workers needed and knew the exact size of the floor as you've already been here twice before. How do you run out of grout? On top of that, all our furniture is in the garage and in the driveway so they can repair everything. They tell me the movers will be back on Monday (it is Saturday when the work is being done). I had to argue with them that the furniture was going back in that evening as promised in the main house. My father-in-laws belongings had to stay in the garage the entire weekend until they could come back out the following Monday to finish his living area repairs. Fast forward a day or two and my wife notices the grout is two different colors, one much darker than the other. I watched them throw all the empty grout boxes in the dumpster in front of one of the new home builds that day, so we went down that evening, jumped in the dumpster and grabbed every box they used that day thinking they had put down two different colors. Turns out all the boxes were marked and labeled the exact same. We had them come out once more to review the different colors and agree there was an error on mixing the grout when it was put down. This is the second time the grout was improperly mixed, the first time (during the contraction stage) it was mixed by machine vs. hand which is what the box clearly states for the grout used, which is what caused the bubbling and dropping/cracking. So, now, being more than moderately upset at the entire process (keep in mind every time they come in, they need to take all the furniture out and we need to pack up any electronics and fragile items they will not touch), the incompetence level is reaching new heights as they only want to be difficult in their solutions. We wanted the entire floor replaced from scratch to correct all the issues, but the home builder and contractor are in bed together and told us they would get everything fixed. They agreed after the most recent repair to stain and seal all the grout so they could get all the grout colors to match uniformly. So, when that breaks down in a few years, we'll be stuck with the mismatched color of grout until we can pay to have it stained and sealed again. We are 9 months into this floor issue and are still having issues. We just had another 21 tiles replaced about month ago, only to now find more than a couple dozen that are hollow or have hollow spots. Seems every time they remove some tiles, they are loosening others elsewhere. I'd rather have multiple root canals without novocaine that try to communicate with this company. Extremely slow on response and always giving the pass-around. Or maybe we are purposely being ignored for calling them out? We are stuck because it is the homebuilders contractor and they don't seem to be fighting very hard for us either. I firmly believe the only reason Interior Logic is still in business is because the of the contracts they got with these builders. I would have fired them months ago and refused any payment for all this headache. I wholeheartedly agree with Meg B from Mesa on if you enjoy headaches, give these guys a try, they probably own stock in Advil and Grey Goose for those that need a way to cope with their horrible customer service. Stay away! If you are building a new home, ask to know who your contractors are, if you see Interior Logic listed, double and triple check their work if you have no choice to ask for a different contractor.
