| - My wife and I stayed at the Palazzo on our recent trip to Las Vegas. While we enjoyed our stay, there are a few things that would need to be better for it to be a five star hotel.
When we arrived at the hotel, an employee from luggage services was quick to assist us with our bags. It was only 9 AM, so he said that they would be able to hold the bags for us until we were ready to check in. At the check in desk, we asked the employee if we could get a view of the Strip. She said that none of the rooms were available but she offered to upgrade us to a suite at no additional cost. We graciously accepted her offer.
We decided to get coffee and then spend some time on the Strip assuming that our room wouldn't be ready until around 3. However, I received a text at 9:30 that our suite was ready. They put us in one of the hospitality suites on the sixth floor.
The room was definitely one of the best suites I've ever stayed in. It was super spacious, had a comfortable sectional couch, had three TVs (including one in the bathroom), and a large window with remote-controlled curtains. The only downside of the room was that it lacked a mini-fridge and a microwave. Given that we were staying in a suite at a resort, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect these things. I guess they just want you to buy more food and drinks in the casino. The room did have really good wifi which I used to send some work emails at the start of each morning. Overall, I'm sure you could do worse for a hotel on the Strip.
The hotel itself had some great restaurants, but they were all sit-down restaurants. It would have been nice if they had a couple of counter service places that were open late so that we could have grabbed something to eat after getting back from bars.
In terms of location, I liked that the Palazzo was at the north end of the Strip. We were still close enough to walk to anywhere on the Strip and we could easily get to downtown Las Vegas without getting stuck in all of the Strip traffic.
The service at the hotel was good but not great. They wouldn't let my wife borrow some scissors to cut some yarn in the blanket she was crocheting. I understand that people are super on alert given recent events in Vegas, but this is bordering on ridiculous. The only reason she didn't have her own scissors is because she couldn't bring them on the plane. I felt like the hotel should have been more accommodating of this.
Overall, I think the Palazzo is a good place to stay but I will probably still shop around next time when choosing a hotel on the Strip.
