Chubby Cattle might be the new "Hot Spot for Hot Pot" and rightfully so. The new restaurant is beautifully designed and offers aesthetically pleasing dishes ready to be cooked table-side.
After choosing up to three different broths along with your meat or seafood selections, a create-your-own sauce station provides a multitude of flavors to mingle with your tastebuds.
If that isn't enough, a conveyor belt full of variously priced items may tickle your fancy.
My fellow diners and I chose two broths: "House Original" and "Heaven and Hell". I thought their House Original (beef/chicken stock) had a light, subtle flavor but perfect for sipping on. The spicy broth was was actually a bit too spicy even for me and also a bit too salty for one of our friends dining with us.
The meats we cooked were delicious and the many dipping sauces elevated the taste. My wife ordered some scallops which pretty much got lost in the mix of broth, noodles, veggies and meat; probably a first and last time to order those.
Similarly, we felt like the conveyor belt items were lackluster. Assorted vegetables and tofu looked unexciting and didn't seem necessary to enjoy the meal or make it better. Beyond that, our only wish is for them to serve some nice beer to go with the food!
Our servers were very helpful and did explain their restaurant concept fairly well. Waters were filled promptly and the food came fairly quickly after ordering. If you're craving Chinese hotpot in the Chinatown area, you can't go wrong by checking this place out soon!
