  • This place is really cute- the atmosphere is hip and eclectic, and they even have decks of cards to play with at the tables. The establishment is clean, and they have a few yummy looking things for vegans on their menu. The staff is passionate and friendly, and I loved the small business vibe that it had. I didn't personally have a great overall experience there, but I realize from other's reviews that my experience was definitely not the norm. When my fiancĂ© and I ordered our food, I didn't think it would take much more than 20 minutes to get it on the table, but the guy working there did warn me that it might take a couple extra minutes. No big deal. After waiting about 45 minutes, I needed to leave for work but we had already paid for our food- which I found out hadn't even been started yet. There was only one other couple in the restaurant, so I went to find out what was going on. It turns out, the one person working there was filling a 30 sandwich catering order before making our 2 sandwiches. The owner/manager person came out to see what was wrong, and ended up basically yelling at her employee for not offering us a free upgrade to Belgian waffles so that he could use the other iron and get our sandwiches out quickly. Now, yes, that would have been a smart thing to do, but what about the possibility of putting the only two waffles ordered in the last hour in front of the 30 catered waffles? Or the possibility of not charging for the meal we had to take to go and I still ended up late for work? Or at the very least not chewing out your employee for a unfortunately handled circumstance that could not have possibly been covered during training? Also the manager/owner lady was worried that I would give her a bad review on yelp, and kept bringing it up and asking that the employee's mistake wouldn't cost her a good review. I don't go on yelp just to give people bad reviews, but it's not often that I have an experience this bad either. The sandwiches and coffee themselves were absolutely fabulous, and since the service was definitely situational, I would not be opposed to going back sometime to give it another shot. Even more than being late for work and not getting any sort of complimentary item as an apology, I just really don't appreciate the lack of professionalism that the management showed the day I went in. I've been in situations where my boss embarrassed me in front of customers before, and it's really the worst thing. But like I said, it was just a poorly handled situation, and the food was so dang good that I would not be opposed to giving them a second chance- I'm just not chomping at the bit to walk through those doors again.
