  • We bought our third F150 super crew in March of 2017. Unfortunately we were driving to Lubbock TX a month ago. We were about 20 miles from Ruedosa NM when the check engine light started flashing and it started shaking. We slowed down but was afraid to pull over because we were in the middle of no where with a 2yr old grandchild in the middle of the night. We limped it into Ruedosa. We stopped in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I work in the fleet dept in my company so I called my shop Forman. He had us go in and buy a scanner so we could see what was going on. After running the scanner it said our #4 cylinder was out. He had us clear the code which turned off the check engine light and the truck seemed to get better. He felt that with as close as we were we could make it to Lubbock. We made it there around 330am. I called the dealerships service dept at 730am that morning. I spoke with Cecil at Pollard Friendly Ford in the service dept. He said to bring it right in. I dropped it off and he would call me once they looked at it. About 2 hrs later I get a call from him that was very devastating. We needed a new engine. It would take 3 days to get. We only had 18000 mi on the truck so could not believe it. We own a business in Arizona so there was no way we could stay for 7 to 10 days and wait for our truck. Not to mention we had a grandchild of my other daught that lives back in arizona. We went home with the rental and I contacted Jim Crutcher the general manager at Berge Ford. After telling him about our horror story he immediately started a plan to get our truck back without us having to drive back to get it. During the two weeks of waiting I never got one call from Cecil about how it was going. That is were Jim got his service manager Joey (who by the way is amazing) involved and he called to get an update on our truck. Well they had not done one thing and this was after 8 days. Joey let him know that once the truck was ready they would be flying someone from Berge Ford to pick up the truck and drive it back to Arizona. This is not something Jim Crutcher had to do but he did. In the midst of all this I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. The stress of it all was crazy but knowing they were taking care of our truck was one less thing to think about. On 2hrs notice from the ford dealership in Lubbock that our truck was done. I called Jim, he had a flight booked that night. His shop foreman who was amazing got on a flight that night and was at the dealership the next morning to pick up our truck. I am sorry I do not know that foreman's name but at some point during driving our truck back it was realized that they forgot to put the oil cap on. Luckily he coughs it and bought one and put it on. When he got our truck back to Arizona Jim had them check everything to make sure everything was good before we picked it up. I just cannot thank Jim enough for everything he has done to get us our truck back. We our some what hesitant about taking this truck on long trips. I really wish we would have just bought another 8 cyl.
