I really love this place. I'm even giving it 5* despite the fact that there's no AC in the Summer and I find it a tad overpriced.
It's a nondescript building that looks like an abandoned garage from the outside but is so charming on the inside, with it's high ceilings, fairy lights and picnic tables. I've been here twice now. Once last year as part of a large group and yesterday sitting at the bar since we didn't reserve for dinner on a Saturday night.
Yesterday, one of the owners/chefs (I think) plucked out a fresh cherry tomato that they grow at their restaurant and gave it to me to try before I sat down to eat. Very cute. The staff is young, fun and cool. We were served by a charming and highly persuasive bartender. He got us to order an appetizer that ended up being one of my favourite bites of the night; the spicy dynamite (essentially chopped up salmon and fennel salad - delicious). As mains, we ordered the vegetarian zucchini & potato tacos (2) and the beef torta, along with a side of the garlic sweet potatoes.
The beef in the torta is very lean and pilled high, and I liked the pickled onions it was served with. We didn't really like the veg tacos because blah potatoes in a corn tortilla isn't really my idea of delicious. Their in-house hot sauce is bomb. At $84 total, it's a little pricey but I would go again.
