| - i'm really disappointed with this place. i was really excited to find this shop because i've had a hard time finding places that sell spirals in 5/8" (in person, at least). i asked the piercer working at the time to please measure the spirals because they were for my boyfriend. i explained that he can wear either 1/2" or 5/8". he measured and assured me they were the right size. i don't wear gauges, so it's safe to say i was an inexperienced buyer, but that's what the piercers are there for and why i asked specifically if it was 5/8" several times.
i also bought about $150 worth of other jewelry while i was there, one piece of which i've now noticed is broken. but that's not my real beef here.
i got the spirals home and gave them to my boyfriend, he got them out of the box and looked at me and said there's no way these are 5/8". we measured them, and they're 7/8". that's at least 2 sizes bigger than 5/8".
i then called the shop this evening and asked if there was anything they could do for me. after a short conversation, i was hung up on.
i called back thinking there's no way that just happened (i'm not rude when i call to ask about errors), and i asked if there was anything they could do because while i understand health codes and that they can't accept return of body jewelry, i wanted to know if they could extend a coupon or do anything else for me because i'm out $60. i could sell these on ebay maybe and get half of what i paid for them. i got silence and then was told that, "they don't even stock 7/8" jewelry." perhaps my measuring tape is wrong, but it's not that wrong. there is NO WAY this is 5/8" jewelry.
for a shop that's supposed to be so reputable, i'm really not impressed with the way this situation was handled. very disappointed. and shocked really - on the east coast, the situation would've been handled much differently. buyer beware.
a picture of my boyfriend's spirals (clear) and the ones i bought (wooden) at club tattoo clearly shows the discrepancy: (uploaded to business photo section) - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/OD-x7EJr9G7lqKnemQP6vQ?select=9avZjAN6ogjpTMnOFzxXtQ
i was helped at the register by a really nice young woman that works there named alessa when i checked out, and she was lovely. too bad that's not enough to redeem the rest of my experience. ;(
