rev:text	After claiming to have the best fish and chips in Las Vegas for over 40 years, I knew I had to try some for myself. My family and I came here for a late lunch and this place was empty. I was quite surprised, considering it was a Sunday afternoon and especially after reading that it can be a long wait. We started with apps and ordered the jumbo onion rings and fried pickles. O-rings were average, but oh my god, I loved their take on fried pickles! Not your typical sliced dill pickles, but a whole spear coated in batter and fried to golden brown perfection. Three pieces of Icelandic cod dipped in beer batter and served with a basket of steak fries for just $9.99- It was good, but not the best, and certainly does not deserve the title for the best fish and chips in Las Vegas. The cod was tough and the beer batter was good in flavor, but did not maintain its crisp. It was extremely oily and soggy, the batter falling off with each bite. Needless to say, I was disappointed because I walked into the restaurant with such high expectations! Their "signature dish" is completely overrated. Service was great, very accommodating and attentive. Village Pub and Cafe is one of those places that made me wonder why I even had it bookmarked in the first place. I'm glad I was able to try it, but I couldn't see myself returning here in the future unless I were to come here after a night out on the Strip or something along those lines. It seems more of a place for locals, or those tourists who are looking for an alternative to the eateries on the Strip. Definitely come here if you're looking for cheap eats.
