| - Use to be our favorite Indian restaurant, driving out of our way just to dine there . We came on a Sunday at 7:00 p.m., last day of "Restaurant Week in PHX" to take advantage of the $40 special. We were greeted and seated right away from a young lady who was the Hostess, Order taker and Drink server.
The young lady finally got around to our table after waiting a bit to take out drink order and menu order. We decided to go with the Restaurant Week PHX $40 which changed when we got there to $44 special. We ordered our whole meal up front 1st. course: Bombay Bhel Puri (crisp puffed rice, onions, potatoes, cilantro), 2nd. course: 2 Kashmiri Chicken Tikka Masala (level of hotness a 6 and an 8), 3rd. course: Kulfi (ice cream made with pistachios, cardamom seeds).
I can honestly say we were very disappointed overall, the wait to take our order was long and the wait to get our drinks (beers) was long. What was not a long wait was to give us our bill which I noted on the Web site for Restaurant week we were to be charged only $40 not $44. The 1st. course we ordered was OK I just think it was personal taste. The 2nd. course which we've had many times had very little chicken, the spice levels we requested were tame (again we frequent here quit a bit, so we know). The Naan was chewy and doughy. To top it off, our dessert was delivered and we were told they ran out so they gave a mango ice cream that I did NOT like, but mean while 2 tables down got the pistachio Ice cream (they arrive well after we did). We were told by the young lady "well they just pick it out of a container and you get what you get".
Really? I took note that the young lady was not very friendly, an abrupt manner to everyone, workers and diners. What happen? when the Mother and Father Owners were there the service ran much smoother, food was excellent even for the $$. The food which I raved about was not good, the Naan was horrible and the dessert mess up and at $44 there frankly was no savings cost.
Sorry service OK, wait bad, food OK and for the $ price this is the last time.
