| - This is a two-star hotel and casino at best, but this review is mainly for the buffet. It is what it is, since the purpose of it is more like a stop for truckers to eat and gamble while they're on the road, or for a quick stop for anyone passing down the highway.
My friend and I stopped in on the way back from Lake Mead, looking to grab a quick bite to eat. This place is extremely small, and we were amazed how there was a $2 MINIMUM (yes you heard right, MINIMUM!) on the tables here! Figured anyways for the location and how tiny the resort is.
Unfortunately, the buffet is the *worst* buffet I have ever been to. While it's dirt cheap at $8.95, you get what you pay for. Their selection is as quaint as the size of the resort, with only American choices at best. The rice was bland and completely flavorless, the corn tasted something completely different than corn would (very hard to explain, but if you're curious go try it for yourself!), the banana cream pie was nothing more than painfully sweet sugar, the salmon was overcooked and tasted/smelled like it had been sitting for a few days, the hamburgers were way too salty and seasoned, and even the carrots from the vegetable bar didn't exactly taste right. I would think it would be difficult to screw something up in the vegetable/salad area, but for some reason the food here tasted a little off.
The only decent items were the fries, the mashed potatoes and gravy, and the frozen yogurt. Again, the only reason why we came here was because it was the closest thing in the area when we were starving, but never again. The service was also extremely lacking, but I felt bad because they probably didn't get enough business as it was. It seemed like the majority of people here were tourists, truckers, and senior citizens.
