| - I love Erie Island Coffee. I've always thought they have the best selection of coffee vs. non-coffee drinks and have cool vibes in supporting local art and companies. I religiously buy their coffee in Heinen's.
This Erie Island has a cool exterior, like it was perhaps part of an old movie theater. See my pic. I'm not claiming to be hip on Rocky River stuff, but the outside just reminds me of a theater kiosk. The inside has some cool touches-- I noticed a power strip up on the high-top bar, a garage door that looks like it *might* extend up to make an open-air patio, and a fireplace central to the seating area. I had a seasonal earl grey latte, which was great, and a hummus panini snack, which was also surprisingly tasty (I have had poor luck with coffee shop food before).
So why not 5-stars? The chairs weren't comfortable and I'm not sure why more people don't mention this. I was trying so hard to stay and read but just couldn't make it happen. Stable, sturdy, ergonomic seating is important to me. I really hope the next time they do upgrades, they'll consider this (but then again, I have yet to actually find a coffee shop with comfortable chairs. I guess its at least still better than some of the places that try to make you sit on a trendy, refurbished tree stump). I'll be back soon, but likely to-go.
