| - The owner of this company came to our house and sold us with a great sales pitch. We signed up based on hours purchased for tutoring sessions. The total bill was in the thousands for our 10th grader.
Although the owner told us all about this organized system of tutoring that would be used with our son, we found that the reality was much different. There were specific things to be done each session (study skills, and the use of an supplemental Algebra book; an extra $50 charge). We had two tutors for different subjects. Neither tutor ever opened or used the study skills book, and both were completely unfamiliar with it when I asked why they weren't making use of it. The math tutor never used the algebra book we paid extra for.
One tutor was good at communicating after each session, the other had the personality of a dead fish. The tracking of hours spent was slow rolling and hard to keep track of. There is NO defined method used by the various tutors. The initial sales pitch is just that and nothing more.
The was some benefit to having Jennifer as a tutor, but she also lacked follow through on multiple fronts that we felt were very important. Part of the sales pitch is that these very expensive tutors will communicate directly with your child's teachers. Lol, that never happened, even after multiple direct requests for them to follow through.
After a disappointing first run, and thousand's of dollars fewer in our bank account, we opted to go without further services from Tutor Doctor. If they had taken any interest in our concerns we may have signed up for more. However, the attitude was if your not happy, there is another sucker waiting to take your place.
Basically, not impressed for the money paid. This could be great, but it just isn't. Buyer beware.
