| - When I saw that Bang Bang had opened after I had visited Toronto, I was so upset because I really wanted to try their HK waffle ice cream (it also didn't help that at the time I kept seeing it all over Instagram). Luckily, due to a work trip, I was able to come back and definitely made sure I made the trip here even in -8 degree weather (which worked out because there was NO line)!
Because Bang Bang opened after Bakerbots, many people think that they stole their menu from Bakerbots as some flavors are the same. However, having gone to Bakerbots the day before, we learned that they're actually sister companies! I knew it was going to be good based off of my Bakerbots experience, but I was even more pleased after I had samples of the ice creams I was contemplating between. I love how at both locations, sample sizes are GENEROUS. Seriously, you can basically combine all the samples into one scoop - it's that ridiculous.
Ultimately, I went with the matcha tiramisu and the rocky road hill. Love how they let you choose 2 flavors, claiming that you get 2 small scoops of each. BUT they're not small scoops at all! Both flavors were fan-freaking-tastic. First off not only are all the flavors outrageous sounding, who would have thought to put those combinations together?! The matcha tiramisu had plenty of tiramisu within each bite, but it didn't overpower the matcha at all. Plus, the matcha wasn't bitter either. The rocky road had plenty of marshmallows and other ingredients - perfect for you chocolate and smores lovers. HK waffles are made to order, so it takes awhile, but you can definitely taste the love. It's soft, but not too soft that it can hold all the ice cream, while not getting too soggy as you work your way through the beast.
If you made your way through my entire review and couldn't tell, I loved Bang Bang. CAN YOU PLEASE EXPAND TO NY?!
