Bacaro is one of the nicest restaurants in CU. I can honestly say I've never had better service than I did when my husband and I went here for our anniversary. Our waiter was extremely wine savvy (and I expect a sommelier in training at the very least), and brought out complimentary champagne when he learned it was our anniversary. So for the service, I give it 5 glowing stars.
Now for the food. I got the mushroom soup as my starter, and I can honestly say I've rarely had more disappointing soup in my life. It was loaded with sodium and void of any complexity. I couldn't finish it.
For my main dish, I ordered the vegetarian gnocchi - which was just okay, but presented in this odd little casserole dish that just did not fit the ambiance of a place like Bacaro.
For the price and quality of the food, I would not return. And that's a shame, because the service was some of the best I've ever received.
