Mancini bread is really delicious. You can find it everywhere in Pittsburgh. This was the first time I ever stepped foot in the actual store though. Preface: it is a polar vortex (whatever the hell that means) in the area/country right now. When I walked into mancini's, the door was propped wide open. I planned to enjoy my food there because I didn't want to carry my hot meal on the bus all the way back to Oakland, where I was headed. But the door was propped open during the polar vortex. I am hoping they just burned something and were airing the place out. Otherwise that is pretty much the fastest way to effectively kick customers out of your store!
I got a roast beef a cheese puff pastry type thing. I thought it was a sandwich. I ordered it with horseradish sauce. It was quite tasty but very heavy on the bread, and not so much what I was expecting. I probably would not eat one of those again. Maybe I will stop in sometime for a breakfast sandwich. I was expecting a deli sandwich, I guess. My fault for the confusion.
That being said, the woman working the counter was very pleasant. I stopped in earlier that morning to glance at the menu to see if I wanted lunch there. She remembered me from the morning and said she was happy I came back. So that was nice!
I would probably stop here for just bread to take home. I'll have to remember.
