| - I will preface this review with a description of my hair. I have ultra thick, but very fine hair that grows in "clumps" (uneven thickness/volume) and while not curly, it is almost unmanageable without an excellent haircut.
Since becoming a customer of Toni & Guy in May 2011, I have had beautiful and completely manageable hair. I find that a true measure of talent is to simply let the stylists cut my hair the way they think it will look the best- I have not been disappointed yet!
Monika specifically is well worth her $60 price tag (not including the tip). She is not afraid to really cut into thick hair and give it movement and lightness while preserving volume. She doesn't overuse product, nor does she "push it". She gave important advice on the types of products she likes and what is appropriate for my hair type without pushing items on me. She explains what she's doing and why, and she understands how to work with hair texture and type rather than fight it. She's very nice, which is a bonus.
The rest of the staff is competent and mostly friendly. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for service, and if there is a wait (or if I'm early) I've been offered water/coffee/tea/soda every single time. The products that I have purchased have been high quality, long lasting, and even come with a generous return policy. The salon itself is small and a little crowded when they are busy, but clean and well maintained.
I am happy to be a customer of this salon and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. It's not cheap, but it is well worth it to get a great haircut.
