Despite what Priceline, Travelocity etc say this is NOT a 4-STAR hotel. My bad for trying to get an online deal....Motel 10 is not for business travelers or long term guests....my review based on 4 nights in an amazing city:
Positives:
- The Valet will take you upon request to most places within a 5 mile radius...even to the stadium for a hockey game! You need to find your own way back.
- The rooms are large with lots of workspace
- Location - can walk to several lo-mid priced restaurants - next trip I will opt for old Montreal for sure, closer to better restaurants
- I get the feeling the staff would be more helpful if they could
- comfortable bedding
- free wifi
BUMMERS (in no order as they are numerous)
- $30 parking
- lack of housekeeping - they basically come in and change the sheets (well I think they do). They leave water for purchase but do not replenish it or even remove empty bottles. I had it finally ask for more water. See my attached pics, bathroom in rough shape with shower walls not scrubbed. Pretty sure they do not vacuum or sweep as dirt and dust on floors and corners.
- Room Service - get this....you can order from a limited menu but that menu does not include beer or wine. If you want beer or wine you have to go downstairs to the bar and bring it up to your room....but don't forget your credit card like I did because you can't charge anything from the bar to your room.
It gets worse...first night I ordered salmon, the food was cold by the time I got it but was so burnt out from a brutal day at work I ate it anyway. The bar is crap, zero selection, despite the fact that they display all kinds of wines. The wine I had tasted like it had been open for a week.
Make sure to stay on the side of the hotel farthest away from the nightclub, although I did have some guy banging on my door one evening.
Really miserable experience.....
Buyer beware.
