  • I surprised my husband with a trip to Scottsdale to relax and get some sunshine. We live in San Francisco so escaping the fog was a huge plus! Overall we had a great time. We started the trip off by participating in the "Chef for a Day" program with Chef Mel in Talavera. My husband and I both like to cook so this was a wonderful experience for us. We spent about 3.5 hours in the kitchen helping prep that nights meal (including our own). It was great to see how things are done "behind the scenes". After dinner we enjoyed a 6-course meal in the restaurant. Outside of that experience we were able to also enjoy lunch in Proof and got in some pool time. The service was great in both restaurants as well as by the pool. The staff was always attentive and courteous. With that being said, I have to warn you about the only negative thing that happened during our stay and it's a BIG thing. We left the hotel one morning and when we returned to our room in the late afternoon to get ready for dinner I noticed hair in my brush that was not mine. There was no doubt that it wasn't mine. The length and color were completely different from my own. My hair is shorter and much lighter than the hair I found in my brush. It was jet black hair and I don't have black hair! It wasn't just 1 strand of hair either, there were about 15+ strands. Obviously someone came into the room (housekeeping?) and used my brush. I was disgusted! It really makes you wonder what else could have been used - deodorant, toothbrush, etc. Need I remind you this is the Four Seasons. We don't expect something like this to ever happen during a hotel stay but more so, certainly, not at a Four Seasons. I immediately called the front desk to report it and the housekeeping manager returned my call within 15 min. She told me they planned to investigate the situation and would get back to us within a day. (They did offer to send a new brush to my room which I declined because the brush I use is a special type (Mason Pearson) and I assumed they did not have this style in house). 24 hours later we still hadn't heard from anyone. During the checkout process my husband and I kept waiting for them to bring up the situation. No one did. Our first full day home, my husband made multiple phone calls to see what would come from this but kept getting the "we're looking into it" story. Apparently, they asked the housekeeper that worked on our room that day and she denied it. Of course she's going to deny it especially since her job is on the line if she confesses. Anyways, in the end they offered us 25% off a future booking. No thanks. I won't be staying in a hotel where my personal belongings are being used by someone else. So, did we have a nice stay? Yes. The place is beautiful and staff is very friendly. I just can't get over the fact that someone was in our room using our things and no ownership was taken for this bad experience. We won't be back.
