| - So, first time here and initial impressions. I brought my Subaru here because I just had the dogs on vacation and the whole car was full of hair on the inside and some mud and dirt on the outside. I said I just wanted to get the bulk of the hair and get it cleaned up, but I only had an hour so nothing major. The guy kept trying to up sell me on the detailing, I kept saying I didn't have much time, so just I really didn't care if all the dog hair comes out because they'd be back in the car again. He kept trying to convince me they could wash it now and I could come back for the detailing later. When I think he realized I couldn't be convinced, he just kind of moved on and seemed annoyed.
So I just got the best wash, the ultimate or whatever. So as I was paying at the cashier, the same guy then was behind the cashier and said they couldn't wash my car through the normal wash because of the bike rack on the top of my car. I said it's been through car washes lots of times, I asked what kind they had and said it had been through the cloth washers before. He said, well just if there's any damage on it, that's on you. I said fine, I wasn't worried about it. So then another guy comes in and says they can't wash it through the machine, they have to hand wash it for $10 more. Because they think it can hurt the machine. Sigh. I said fine, whatever, I don't care, I just want to get it washed. A third guy talked to me about it, I said it was fine, I don't care, go ahead. The first guy even mentioned it again while I was waiting for the car. Let it go, dude. You guys already got my 10 bucks.
So I feel like it's already a whole thing. Basically, probably not the car wash of choice for Subaru owners or anyone with roof racks and/or dogs that wants a quick wash. I also feel like if I'm getting the most expensive car wash, and they make they judgment call that they don't want to put it through the wash, they shouldn't charge me 35 percent more for that call.
It went through the wash. But the guy in the bay doing the drying and interior seemed in no huge rush. To be fair, it's summer, it's hot. But it looked pretty casual. Though he did do a good job, and so the only reason I'm giving even a three star rating is based solely on the quality of work he did. And it wasn't perfect, but I couldn't even let him finish. As it was, this car wash (when they weren't at all busy) took over an hour and I had to get back to work.
So the quality was good. But goddamn, what a complete hassle. And took way too long for just a car wash on a dead day. The whole thing about the bike rack too, that was just ridiculous and I really feel that was more a way just to up charge since they couldn't up sell. Could be wrong, but it felt like that.
