  • First off, location wise, this place can't be beat. You are right in the thick of things and can walk to all sorts of interesting places and good food. This is good because parking for guests is $28 a night and the three in-hotel dining options are not only overpriced but TERRIBLE. Being the largest hotel in Canada, and situated so nicely in the center of things, I suppose they don't think they need to put any effort into their food. Everything is oily and bland, things like fruit and eggs taste as though they are very old indeed. The rooms are decorated no better than a motel, though the beds are comfy. Towels are scratchy and feel, I don't know, oily? Just like they are leaving a residue on you and not drying you much at all. I was most frustrated with the room's temperature controls. Our stay took place right at the changing of fall from mild to truly cold. At first our room was chilly and we couldn't turn the heat on no matter how high I set the thermostat. Then one night the heat kicked on with a deafening whoosh and though I turned it all the way down it blew nothing but hot air until I turned it off. Our room when from cold to stuffy and there was nothing we could do to change it. Like the thermostat was a silly little toy someone had nailed to the wall. Everything is very clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you get a good deal say, under or around $175 I'd say this isn't a bad place to stay in downtown Toronto, which is an expensive city. Just you know, it could be better. Also just avoid the in hotel food at all costs. There are tons of excellent places to eat within easy walking distance, even when it's cold. Cheaper and even if it's the $4 shwarma from the dubious looking place called "Tummy Time" you will find the food infinitely better.
