| - I never write reviews, ever. This is my first time ever writing a Yelp review. That's how good these guys are. Really. If you need a haircut and you're on the edge about booking them.. Just do it. You WILL NOT be disappointed.
I wasn't sure what to expect because generally so many five star reviews seem like they can be written by friends of the business owners, or people that they offered deals to in return for writing a review. The guys from Blend are the real deal, and they are as good as every one of these reviews make them out to be.
They just moved into their new salon, and while only a single room, it is cozy and looks great. Very sleek and modern, freshly renovated and they even did most of the labor themselves. Overall very clean and cool spot with a chill vibe to sit and relax. Cool little side note: they'll offer you water or a beer of your choice before you get started which is always a welcome plus!
I got my cut from John, but mistakenly showed up about 30 minutes early because I thought I booked my appointment at a different time. John was on a break so I hung out in the salon and watched Blake give one of his clients a haircut, so I'll speak a little for both of them after watching Blake cut two clients hair and John cutting my own.
Blake: seemed like he made great conversation with his client (not the usual kind of small talk I loathe when I get my haircut), kept everything fun and in general did a pretty awesome job. His client looked great when he was finished, and was super pumped about the way he looked so it seems like he got exactly what he wanted. Didn't get my hair cut by Blake personally, but based on what I watched and heard from his client while I was waiting in line, I would trust him with my hair any day.
John: Having never been here before and not really knowing how to describe the way I like my hair cut, I showed John a picture of the style I like. He looked at it for maybe 10 seconds at most, and went to work. I've never experienced anything quite like what happened over the next 30 minutes or so. He had an astonishing attention to detail, and ran it by me that he wanted to layer my hair a little differently to make it easier to style which is something my previous barber didn't do. Loved that he explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. Really cool guy to talk to, someone you don't mind opening up to because he's willing to do the same to you about his life. Very open-minded and seemed like he was genuinely interested about people and their story. Once we finished with the cut, we went for a wash-down and shampoo/scalp massage. Honestly, that massage was probably worth the price on it own. It feels ridiculously amazing. After that, he styled it in the way that I mentioned I liked it and I looked incredible, like I was ready for an award show or to be on national TV. Far and away the best haircut experience I've had, worth a whole lot more than $30 to me. Will absolutely be returning as well as referring any and every friend of mine that cares about how they look to the guys at Blend.
