  • Bought a Groupon for a cut and color and made an appointment to get it done. I'd had red hair for awhile and was looking forward to going back to my usual black. It took FOUR HOURS for one color (black) on my shoulder length hair. The student took over an hour to apply the color to my small amount of hair (my head is half-shaved and again, was shoulder length) because it seemed like she was coloring 3 strands of hair at a time. After I'd been there for over 2 hours, she finally took me over to wash the color out, which somehow took 20 minutes. I could've taken 4 complete showers in the amount of time it took her to shampoo my (again, minimal) hair twice. FINALLY, it's time for the cut. I'm running way late for my doctor's appointment and I've been growing my hair out for awhile and could finally do a full ponytail so I didn't really need a cut; I asked her to just shave down my side and trim my bangs. She said she would trim my split ends too, so I'm like okay, that's normal and started texting people to rearrange my plans for the day since I'd only set aside 2 hours for a cut and color and we were past 3 hours at this point. The "trim" seems to be taking awhile and I glance up in the mirror and see a big chunk of my hair fall to the ground. I reach up to touch my hair and realized she'd taken over 3 inches off of my shoulder length hair!!! After over a year of growing out my hair to shoulder length ruined with a stroke of the shears. I freak out, an instructor comes over and I explain what I wanted and she looked at my hair. She seemed just as baffled as I was at how this could have happened because it's pretty hard to fuck up "I don't really need this cut, so basically leave it alone". She tried to "fix" my hair when I finally stopped her and said I had to leave as I was now late for my appointment. I walk up to the front and they said they comped me for the butchering but that I owed $30 for the color. I'd spent $20 on a Groupon for the cut and color so I was like, um, no. They said I could either pay $30 cash or let them redeem the Groupon and I could "come back" for a haircut another time. I laughed because I will never go back because how do you fuck up a trim I didn't even ask for?! So I called Groupon and complained and got my money back. Wish I could get my hair back... Went from finally being able to do a real ponytail back to an emergency "patch job" pixie from my main hair lady. I'm so, so disappointed. I know it's a school and I didn't expect much, but almost 4 hours for a single color and then hacking away what little hair I had, that was just unacceptable. The girl that tried to do my hair was sweet, but she really didn't seem to know what she was doing. It seemed like she needed way more practice before being able to work on actual people. So don't do it. The Groupon seems like a great deal but it was absolutely not worth the years worth of hair growth I lost today and the 4 hours of my life I will never get back.
