  • My husband and I, and our children, have had an absolutely terrible experience with A Perfect Fit nanny agency. When we were in need of a nanny for our three children to accommodate their afterschool activities, we assumed a nanny would be the right way to go. Of course, we wanted to hire a legitimate candidate with background checks. When I contacted the agency, they immediately told me they would be able to find us the perfect, long term solution for our family. However, they waited until 3 weeks before school started to place an ad for our position. At the 11th hour they happen to come up with a resume, however she had a minimum number of hours she demanded and was above the hourly rate we stated but because we were new to this, we assumed this was all we were going to find. Both the agency and the candidate assured us she was looking for a long term opportunity, because first and foremost we wanted to make sure our kids didn't have to go through any more change (new house, new school). However the nanny they provided turned out to be a close friend of all the women at the agency. Even though they all assured us she was excellent with kids and worth the extra hours and money, we didn't find out until several months into the contract the nanny we hired would take our kids to her home, Starbucks, give them candy every time they went to the store, swore at my kids (the nanny admitted she just lost it one day) and simply didn't play or work with our kids. I agree, a 9 year old and 7 year old twins can be a handful, but I thought someone who had been a nanny and came so highly recommended personally from this agency would be ready for the opportunity. The nanny took two weeks off to get married (Jenn from the agency was there), called in sick and then promptly gave her two week notice when she was ready to graduate from a cosmetology program. We feel like they gave us a personal friend, at top dollar, when they all admitted she wasn't cut out for older kids. However, to find us a replacement nanny after 6 months they want to charge us another $600 after we have already paid them thousands of dollars. I find this unethical business and incredibly disappointing after Janet and Jenn made our family so many promises and our kids are in flux, yet again. Do your family a favor and look for another agency. They can't be trusted to not place personal friends who are not qualified or interested. At the end of the day, they simply don't care about disrupting your family/children they want to move onto the next candidate so they can continue to bill you.
