  • STAY AWAY! This place is terrible. We moved here recently and I saw this salon because it is located in the Princeton Club. My teenage daughters and I had our hair styled here for a special occasion - no cuts - and it looked really good. Melissa did my 13 year old daughter's hair and it looked amazing. She actually does a great job and should really try to get away from the awful woman who owns this place and the incompetent stylists that the owner employs and go work somewhere better. She is too talented to be surrounded by this type of inferior service. Since we liked the styling we had gotten we decided to come back for cuts and color. One daughter was lucky enough to be with Melissa again and her haircut was great. My other daughter and I each had our hair cut by someone else (something with a J? I wish I could remember but she had long wavy red hair) and both our haircuts were totally uneven and awful. My daughter has long straight hair which only really requires that the hairstylist have the ability to cut in a straight line, which was apparently not the case here. When we got home and I looked at the back of her hair I realized that it was noticeably longer on one side than on the other! Also, my highlights were totally uneven and my daughters were too. I was in total disbelief. The next day when I washed and dried my own hair I saw that my hair had that same problem, as well as being a really bad choppy version of the hairstyle I usually have done (never before at Julia Grace). When I was paying I asked about an ad had seen in the Princeton Club on the screens they show ads on by the treadmills about a 10% discount for new clients. I told them that they hadn't given it to me the time that we had come for the stylings and could I use it that day instead on our bill? She said that they don't have any discount like that and that I was wrong. I have seen it since then again on the ads in the clubs but she didn't honor that. Now I think all this is bad enough, but it was how we were treated after this that I was even more upset about. When I called and spoke to the owner of the salon, she was very, very rude and very unaccommodating as to when she would be able to fit us in for re-cuts. I explained that we were leaving on a trip at the end of the week (we had come in on Sunday so that we wouldn't have to be rushed toward the end of the week before we left on Friday) and she couldn't find ANY times at all for us except for Thursday night, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid, since I am always busy before I leave on a trip. We came in and she was very unfriendly. We did have our hair redone - she cut and recolored my daughter and Melissa cut and recolored me and they were fine. As we were leaving, I told her how inconvenient this experience had been and that no one had even apologized for our troubles. Instead of just saying I am sorry at that time she chose to say "I don't know what you mean. I apologized to you on the phone. What is it that you want me to do for you?" Wouldn't it have just been better business to be nice at that time and apologize instead of taking another opportunity to be rude again? I asked her if she would be willing to give us 2 free haircuts (we had originally paid for 3 haircuts and 2 colors and the bill was over $300 before the tips and I was only asking her for about a $60 credit total) She said OK but later in the week sent me a LETTER telling me she didn't think she wanted me as a customer and that she was refunding my $60!!!! I was shocked! She no longer wanted me to come back! SO instead of going back and speaking to the stylist who did a terrible job (which the owner was fully aware of because she re-cut my daughter's hair and saw mine too) she thought it would be easier to get NEW customers rather than retraining her staff. In essence, she fired the customer instead of the stylist who gave bad service! I guess she has so much business that she doesn't need any more! So my advice to any of you who are thinking of going there...DON'T! She has all the customers she needs and doesn't want any more. FInd somewhere to go that actually values their customers and treats then well.
