| - I have never been more disappointed in the behavior of a stranger than I was when I visited this store.
Back in early May, my boyfriend and I visited the Jared's location in Strongsville OH. It was our first stop in looking at engagement rings. The staff was friendly and helpful and would ya know it... I found a gorgeous ring that we both fell in love with. I urged my bf not to buy it, I wanted to make sure we looked at several things. He had a private conversation with the 'numbers' guy and we left.
Over the next few weeks we stopped into several jewelers, but nothing made my heart flutter like the vintage rose gold Natalie K halo we saw that first day.
So we decided to stop BACK in to Jared's so I can see it again.
We were near another location, Great Northern, and this is when our experience went badly.
We told the gentleman what we wanted to look at, but this location doesn't carry Natalie K. They showed us a few other things while one guy (possibly named Mark?) was looking in the system. He asked my boyfriend 'Are you sure you didn't buy anything?'. To which my bf said 'No. I did not buy anything'. The guy said 'Hmmm, well there's a receipt in our system for the ring'. BF kept firmly saying 'No' but guy kept pushing. He printed out the receipt and smacked it down on the counter, as if he were proud he discovered something. I immediately flipped the receipt over, because bf and I agreed the cost of the ring was not my business.
Guy flipped it back over, seeming annoyed that I did such. I flipped it back again and said 'I don't think I am supposed to see that'. I excused myself to the restroom, visibly upset. When I came back, we left.
Because I had seen the price, I told my bf 'I'm so glad you didn't buy that ring, it is way too expensive and I could never let you spend that much'.
I found out yesterday that my bf did actually buy the ring for me. He already had it at that point, but was so crushed that I told him it was too expensive, and he returned the ring. So now here we are, still no ring because we were both so upset over how this was handled. He's furious that I knew how much that ring cost. If I had never seen the paper, he would have proposed and I would have never known how much the ring cost.
I cannot believe that someone who works in a jewelry store could be so daft. Many of his customers are purchasing gifts and you'd think the employees would be able to better keep a secret. There was no need for him to pull that receipt. He didn't discover anything, he ruined my boyfriends plans.
Jared lost a very good sale because of this mans negligence. We will never be back.
