| - DJ or old skool hip hop or 80s fans, you're gonna love this place.
My husband and I had lunch a few doors down from Blend. And since we were new to the area, we wanted to check out some of the establishments as they all looked interesting. Somehow I lost my husband when I came out of the ice cream cookie sandwich store. The moment I saw the vinyls, I knew I was going to be losing him for a good hour.
Seeing the prized finds high up on the wall included vinyls from NWA, Public Enemy, Easy E, Beat Street, Breakin' Run DMC, New Edition, De La Soul, I couldn't help but feel so happy for my husband. Mind you, those albums are not for sale, unless the price is right.
The store has stacks upon stacks of unopened boxes filled with albums. So you know they have "new" stuff that will be going out into the bins on a daily basis.
Albums in the bins are $1! Yup, you read that right. Some albums are full albums like the Madona, Like A Virgin or DJ mixed albums my husband scored. While other albums are singles. The store owner pulled out a chair for my husband to sit and rummage through the bins.
The store also has new and re-furbished turntables and record players, cool t-shirts for sale. If you have a record player at home and you need a needle, Blend has that for you too.
The owners of Blend gave my husband a tour of the store as they also can teach you how mix, something my husband does well with cassette tapes but not with the latest and greatest technology.
Now the two owners, super cool guys from the Bay Area. I'm sure if I wasn't there, my husband could have stayed there another hour just talking and reminiscing with this two total strangers that comfortably appeared to be old friends of ours from the 80s and 90s.
At the end of it all, my husband walked out with 27 albums, plus the Beat Street album, yup the one proudly displayed up on the wall, a t-shirt, supporting Small Business on a Saturday and a visit to his youthful glory days.
