I am taking the time to write this review because I had given up on massage. I have tried many massages and have left only to wake up the next day in worse pain than before the massage. I had come to the sad conclusion that massage just didn't agree with my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I went to this massage with some trepidation. I'm glad I gave it a try. I told them when I booked about my health issue. I told them again when I arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that they had actually made a note of it on my appointment.
I was handed over to Sam for my massage. She spent some time asking me where I would like her to "focus" her attention on. I picked my aching back, neck and shoulders as her primary target. She was careful to keep checking in with me on the intensity and as a result as I warmed up she was able to increase the pressure and unknot some areas that I had given up on ever relaxing. Even though the back neck and shoulder area was the agreed upon target that isn't to say that the rest of me suffered. She hit those other areas just not as thoroughly.
I thought immediately after that this massage had been different. I felt great. I was loosened up and relaxed. I could tell that she had gotten things flowing for elimination because I spent the morning peeing it all way! I also spent the whole day on my feet running errands and Christmas shopping and although my feet were sore...that was the only thing hurting.
I reserved judgement and waited for the dreadful "morning after" experience that massage had given me in the past. Happily it did not happen.
My sister, a fellow RA sufferer who had also given up on massage, had the same experience with another therapist. Needless to say we will be back for more.
