| - Maybe it's nostalgia, because my boyfriend and I stayed here on our first trip to Vegas together, but after staying at Caesar's this past weekend, I really think the MGM Grand deserves 4 stars. For our purposes, it was really just as good as Caesar's and it's much cheaper. The only really undesirable thing is the location, but that can be mitigated by using the monorail. It's also not a big deal if you've been to Vegas and don't feel the need to walk up and down and see all the hotels on the strip, because there's more than enough to do in the hotel between the attractions on StudioWalk and the pool complex.
MGM is really awesome in terms of having things to actually DO in the hotel. I didn't realize how important this in until staying in Caesar's, which is a beautiful hotel but really has nothing to do in it. MGM has both the lion habitat and Television City, which are both fun for kids or families (or even for adults who don't really drink or gamble). There's also tons of cheaper food options, including a whole food court with fast food (Haagen Dazs, McDonalds, Nathans, etc), 'Wichcraft, Rainforest Cafe, Studio Cafe, etc, which is really nice because you don't have to leave the hotel every time you don't feel like dropping $25+ for a meal.
